12 oz vs 14 oz Denim
Two ounces sounds like nothing. It changes the garment, the sewing and the cost.
Short answer
Twelve is the volume jean weight and sews at a sensible rate. Fourteen is heritage territory: better fades and more presence, but slower to sew and harder on the pattern.

Volume five-pocket production, anything with a wash programme, and any factory costing on machine time.
Choose 14 oz when…
Raw and heritage programmes sold on how they will age, and workwear that has to survive. Talk to the factory before moving an existing 12oz pattern up.
